Q: Can I take a lesson even though I am a beginner?

A: Beginners are absolutely welcome. We teach Japanese regardless of ability.

Q: Do you have group lessons?

A: There is no option to take a group lesson. We do not provide group lessons, because of the variety of language abilities between learners, causing time to be wasted for students who potentially already know particular grammar points, vocabulary and so forth. Students can have a more personal experience with their teachers in a one-to-one environment.

Q: My work schedule is irregular. Can I take your lessons or use your services?

A: Please check our business times (Lesson Schedule) on our website. When you book “Ichiyo’s Private Conversation Lesson,” you can book your lesson from 9:00 to 21:00 (JST). ※We run a first come, first served system.
The “Daily Japanese Support Service” is available 24/7.
Be aware that we require 2 or more days notice if you wish to reschedule/cancel a Conversation Lesson.

Q: I don’t have a PC. Can I take a lesson or use your services?

A: It is possible to use a smartphone or other device that can use Skype and access PDFs, however we recommend using a PC.

Q: How can I pay for my lesson packages?

A: You can pay for your lesson packages via “Ichiyo’s Japanese Online Store.”

Q: When is payment required if I wish to continue my lessons?

A: Please pay for your next lesson package before your current lesson package expires.

Assuming you have paid for a “4 Private Conversation Lesson package.”

On July 4th, 2020 you had taken the first lesson.
On July 10th, 2020 you had taken the second lesson.
On July 18th, 2020 you had taken the third lesson.
On August 12th, 2020 you had taken the fourth lesson.

In the above example, if you want to buy another lesson package and continue your lessons with us, we would need to receive the payment by August 12th.

Q: I want to continue my lessons, but the payment deadline has already passed. Do I have to pay for the “Welcome Lesson Package” again?

A: Yes, in this case you would be required to pay for the “Welcome Lesson Package” again if you wish to continue studying with us.

Q: Why are your lesson packages more expensive than other Japanese lesson services?

A: Many Japanese lesson services only provide conversation lessons. However, in addition to providing conversation lessons, we offer our “Daily Japanese Support Service,” where you are able to have your Japanese checked by a native daily! That’s not all, Ichiyo sensei also will make a tailored explanatory sheet for any questions you have that cannot be answered quickly.

Q: Can I receive a refund if I stop taking your lessons?

A: If you have not taken any of the lessons or used any of our services (Private Conversation Lesson, Daily Japanese Support Service, Making Your Original Textbook Service), we will provide you with a full refund. You must submit a refund request within seven days after your payment.
If you have already taken one or more of our lessons/used any of our services, requests for refunds are not accepted.

Q: I had already booked Conversation Lesson. Can I cancel and change the date and time

A: You must tell us two days in advance of the scheduled lesson. If we do not receive two days prior notice for a lesson cancellation or booking change, your booking will be forfeit and you will not receive a refund.
